Treatment fixes the body. This is for the rest of you.
A two- or three-day residential meditation retreat in India, run by our wellness partner H4H — for the days before a procedure, or the weeks after one. Quiet, structured, and completely separate from your medical care.
Somewhere with nothing to do in it
The retreat is residential and rural — wooded ground, low buildings, dirt paths and a great deal of sky. No ward, no reception desk, and no schedule you have not agreed to.

A pause, arranged. Not a treatment.
The retreat sits alongside your care. It never replaces it, and nobody there will ask you to.
It is not medical care
The retreat is run by a wellness partner, separately from your hospital. Nobody there will diagnose you, prescribe for you, or ask you to change anything your doctor has given you. It exists for the part of a medical trip nobody plans for — the waiting, and the recovering.
Two or three days, residential
You stay on site. Meals, a bed, and a schedule someone else has already decided, which is most of the point. Groups are small and the calendar is set a quarter ahead, so places are limited.
Taught, not performed
Guided meditation, breathing and relaxation practice that you keep afterwards. You leave able to do it on your own, in a hotel room or at home — which is where you will actually need it.
What the days hold
A place to stay
Residential for the full two or three days — a bed, not a commute.
All meals
Simple vegetarian food, prepared on site.
Guided sessions
Several a day, led in person. No experience is assumed.
Breathing practice
Short techniques — the kind you can use in a hospital corridor.
A small group
Places are limited and the calendar is set a quarter ahead.
Practices to take home
You are taught the method, not just walked through it.
Three days, and what each one is for
Arrive and stop
Check in, meet the group, and do nothing for the first evening. Most people sleep.
The work
A full day of guided sessions, broken by meals and rest. Nothing is compulsory.
Take it with you
Practice you can repeat alone, then travel out. Two-day retreats close on the second afternoon.
A retreat runs roughly once every three months and dates are fixed in advance. Tell us your treatment window and we will tell you whether one falls inside it.
Who this helps, and who it doesn't
This may be for you if
- You arrive days before a procedure with empty time you are dreading.
- You have been discharged and are not ready to fly home.
- Someone travelled with you and has carried the whole trip.
- Sleep was the first thing to go.
It is not for you if
- You are looking for a cure, or an alternative to the treatment you came for. It is neither — and anyone who tells you otherwise is not someone we would send you to.
- Your doctor has advised against travel or exertion. Ask them first. If you would rather, we will ask on your behalf and put the answer in writing.
- You want a holiday. This is quiet, scheduled and shared.
Who actually runs the retreat

H4H — Holistic Energy Healing
Ahmedabad · founded and led by Alok Vasavda
Alok Vasavda has taught meditation and relaxation practice in India since 2010. H4H runs residential retreats, group sessions and workshops in the Yoga Prana Vidya tradition. MediTravel arranges your place; the retreat itself is theirs.
Programme details on this page are as provided by H4H.
Tell us your treatment dates. We'll tell you what's open.
A coordinator replies within 2 hours with the next retreat date, what it includes and what it costs — in your own currency, before anything is booked. Free, and no obligation.
- We check the dates against your treatment window, not the other way round.
- Companions are welcome. Say who is travelling with you.
- If nothing fits, we will say so.
Before you ask us
Is this medical treatment?
No. It is a wellness retreat run by a partner organisation. It does not diagnose, treat or replace anything, and nobody there will ask you to change your medication.
Do I have to be religious?
No. Sessions are led as practice, not worship, and no belief is asked of you.
Do I need any experience?
None. Every session is led from the beginning, and most people arrive having never done anything like it. There is nothing to prepare and nothing to read first.
How far ahead should I ask?
As early as you can. A retreat runs roughly once every three months and places are limited, so the date is usually the constraint — not whether there is room.
Can I go before my surgery?
Often, yes — but ask your surgeon first. If you would like, we will ask for you and put the answer in writing.
Can my husband, wife or son come with me?
Yes. Companions carry most of a medical trip, and they are welcome to attend.
What does it cost?
The retreat is quoted with your treatment estimate, in your own currency, before anything is booked. Nothing is added without your approval.
What if my treatment dates move?
Tell your coordinator. Dates move often, and it is the one thing we plan for.
Come for the treatment. Leave with your breath back.
Send your reports and your city. We’ll come back with a treatment plan, a cost estimate and — if you want it — a retreat date, in one reply.
