Dr. Rupesh B. Shah

Dr. Rupesh B. Shah is a Director at ICON Urology Hospital, Vastrapur (Ahmedabad) and a visiting consultant at Sterling and Jivraj hospitals. He is the first qualified uro-oncologist of Gujarat to complete a dedicated fellowship in uro-oncology from a cancer hospital, and with more than a decade of experience he is among a very small group of surgeons dedicated exclusively to this field.

His practice is built on delivering the current standard of treatment grounded in the latest evidence. He is an expert in both laparoscopic and open surgery for genitourinary cancers, and has performed the maximum number of laparoscopic radical cystectomies with Studer neobladder formation in Gujarat. He is also a pioneer and expert in laparoscopic partial nephrectomy in the state.

For prostate cancer, Dr. Shah uses a specialised instrument for radical prostatectomy — procured from Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Hospital, Delhi — to preserve urinary continence, and is the only uro-oncologist in the state using this instrument for consistently excellent surgical outcomes. Having performed hundreds of prostatectomies, he typically achieves precise cancer control with strong functional recovery. He has published scientific work on laparoscopic radical cystectomy.
